Disabled people play games for a wide variety of reasons, they are more than entertainment and are a tool to help them find independence, or give them a sense of control over their situation. Being able to consider disabled people&#8217;s needs and desires makes a person a good games designer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Accessibility <a href=\"https:\/\/gameaccessibilityguidelines.com\/full-list\/\">Guidelines<\/a> outline considerations or design decisions for the following list that apply to most game mechanics to allow for a higher degree of accessibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li style=\"text-transform:capitalize\">motor<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li style=\"text-transform:capitalize\">speech<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li style=\"text-transform:capitalize\">hearing<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li style=\"text-transform:capitalize\">cognitive<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li style=\"text-transform:capitalize\">vision<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The SpecialEffect <a href=\"https:\/\/specialeffectdevkit.info\/\">DevKit<\/a> offers developers various resources to improve the motor accessibility of their games.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the second meeting of <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.wsagames.com\/thoseleftbehind\/2025\/02\/17\/week-4-user-testing\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">week 4<\/a> we discussed considerations and changes for our game to become more accessible.
