Week 2

Kinetic Panic – Monday
This week the group is still planning the development cycle and creating goals and timelines for the upcoming weeks so we can have a working prototype soon. I am working on create multiple environment assets for the first stage of the level.


User Story / Project Crisis – Management – Thursday
Video game storefronts track user retention for marketing and audience demographics for improving products/games. Developer must understand user, what they like and what frustrates them. The developer has to have empathy for the user.

As a team we create statements for the user of our game, in the GDD Parker lists that the audience would be for both a Family Audience and a more hardcore audience. The family audience can enjoy the game in small sprints without having to do additional research as the game guides them and caters to a fun and playful style. The hardcore audience can play the game through the lens of a completionism or speed runner.

Game Development Business – Friday

Defining objective and vision of game through pyramid of ‘Strategy’, ‘Tactics’

Creating tables of potential risks in project development and managing the chance potential risks and the potential impact it will have on development. Also finding the mitigation strategy for managing the risks.

SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound)
Acronym for creating/specifying goals for project.

Week Progress

This week I started. creating the environment assets in Blender. This involved creating a universal texture and color palette for the game assets and gathering inspiration from the GDD and internet for the style of assets. I decided on creating 10-20 starting assets including a set of white basic platforms and a set of construction / rooftop themed assets.

GDD Inspiration for Stage 1 Assets (Parker)

I used Parkers Initial concept art as the main inspiration for the stage 1 assets. I then created a Pinterest mood board and found environments that matched Parker’s vision taking inspiration from games like Mirrors edge and Splatoon.
