Professional Practice – The different types
Business Cards | – Fun, unique but also concise – Don’t overcomplicate it |
CV | – Keep it short, relevant and concise – Creative CVs are going to be way different than ones outside the sector |
Portfolio | – Relevant to your role |
Covering Letters | – Highlight your strengths, make it personal to the role and how your skills will shine – Don’t use informal language |
3 Things I learnt from the presentation
- Grade doesn’t matter, focus on portfolio
- Include edited highlights of your research and development processes
- Explain your thinking, thoughts and opinions on each of your pieces and their development
- Photograph and Document all of your work
- You’ll need as much evidence of your processes. Studio Westside has photography facilities.
- Example: Create a film
- Problem/Brief/Title
- Solution/Aim/Rationale
- Outcome
- You only need about 5-8 projects in your portfolio
- Keep it strong all the way throughout
- Final piece should be particularly strong
- Quality over Quantity
