Setting/Story outline
You are a Polynesian Demigod who has just crash landed on an island in the middle of a terrible storm. Explore islands with platforming movement to restore your powers and sail from one island to the next, using the stars to guide you, in search of your magical fish hook.
Learn how to read the stars from the island’s people – their songs and poetry. Maybe even talk to a God(s) that is willing to teach you how to read the stars.
Spawn island is a tutorial island, learn mechanics etc. Get introduced to NPCs – one of which is willing to keep your secret and help repair your fish hook.
Travel from island to island, finding pieces of your fish hook to return to said NPC to fix your fish hook.
Intro Cutscene Idea

After the player wakes up, they have a conversation with the NPC who saved them
NPC is:
- Aware that you are a Demigod
- Is willing to help you find and repair your fish hook
- Helps you disguise yourself
- Is a recluse – lives away from the rest of the island’s people
This conversation leads to the tutorial – the player must platform through the jungle to reach the village. To try to talk to people about how to get to the next island.
Additional Cutscene Notes
There will be two cutscenes in the game, one at the very beginning (Explaining the player character’s current situation) and one at the very end (Seeing off the player character as they have fixed their magical fish hook):
- Cutscene 1 at the very beginning of the game
- The player character gets washed up on a beach during a storm
- They are saved by a stranger who knows of their ‘secret identity’
- When the player character wakes up, the stranger tells them that strange things have been happening to the neighbouring islands (Because the magical fish hook’s pieces have influenced them) and tells the player character that what they seek is on those islands
- They tell the player to go to the Village on the other side of the island
- Cutscene 2 at the end of the game
- The player character’s magical fish hook is completely fixed
- They thank the stranger for their help
- They sail off
Polynesian-Inspired World Building Idea

Referencing Polynesian culture/history, the player can find artifacts around the islands that you can interact with that show popups like the one to the left. (From Nine Sols)
These popups will have real facts about Polynesian history and/or culture.
