As this semester is coming to an end, I want to take the time to look back on all of the work I’ve done the past 3 months. During this time, I’ve developed a clear understanding and vision of the game my partner and I are going to create for our Final Major Projects next semester via:
- Researching:
- Existing games
- AstronavigationP
- Polynesian culture
- Generated game ideas and mechanics using this research
- Iterating playable prototypes using the Unity game engine
- Much more
I’ve also been able to develop a lot of my soft skills this semester, creating a Gantt chart and using Trello to help with time management and workflow; presenting my game ideas and research in front of a crowd; and improving my teamwork communication using tools like Miro.
Also, having a teammate I know I can rely on for aspects of game design I struggle with is extremely helpful. I can completely focus on aspects of the game I’m more comfortable with.
One thing I’ve struggled with is realising the scope of this project, however, I’ve created a Gantt chart for next semester to remedy this as much as possible:
