Depending on how development goes, we can add more islands which provides more potential for unlocking more movement abilities:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Starter island, this is where the player character wakes up after being saved by a stranger from a storm\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Acts as a tutorial as the player learns the controls to platform from the starting area to the village (A hub area for the game)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The player will unlock their first ability once they arrive at the village<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The first island the player gets to using astronavigation\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>This island will have at least 3 &#8216;rooms&#8217; (Essentially smaller levels within the island) before getting retrieving a piece of their magical fishing hook<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Once the player returns to the village, they use this piece to slightly repair their fishing hook, unlocking a new movement ability<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>This movement ability will allow them to access a new area of the hub island that will tell the player how to access the next island<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The &#8216;final&#8217; island where the player retrieves the last piece of the fish hook\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>When they return to the village, they can fix their fish hook completely (The game ends here with a cutscene<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If we think we can fit more levels in, they will go in between islands 2 and 3 (The bullet points above)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-wp-embed is-provider-e-jay-tripoli wp-block-embed-e-jay-tripoli\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"n6jrQrdUoi\"><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.wsagames.com\/et4g23-yr3\/2026\/01\/10\/phase-3-star-game-prototype-2\/\">Phase 3 &#8211; Star Game Prototype 2<\/a><\/blockquote><iframe class=\"wp-embedded-content\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts\" security=\"restricted\" style=\"position: absolute; visibility: hidden;\" title=\"&#8220;Phase 3 &#8211; Star Game Prototype 2&#8221; &#8212; E-Jay Tripoli\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.wsagames.com\/et4g23-yr3\/2026\/01\/10\/phase-3-star-game-prototype-2\/embed\/#?secret=ca8xJHb0Cl#?secret=n6jrQrdUoi\" data-secret=\"n6jrQrdUoi\" width=\"500\" height=\"282\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe>\n<\/div><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Playable Platformer Prototype<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Astronavigation<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>These are puzzle sections between islands where the player looks around and decides where they go, doing this successfully  will get them to the next island.<br>The player will learn how to use the stars to navigate by:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Listening to NPCs around the village\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Songs, Chants, Stories etc.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Talking to NPCs around the village<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Finding scrolls with information on them<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>Possibly <\/em>talking to gods themselves<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-wp-embed is-provider-e-jay-tripoli wp-block-embed-e-jay-tripoli\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"ZUBFKxKNnN\"><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.wsagames.com\/et4g23-yr3\/2025\/12\/14\/week-12-star-navigation-prototype\/\">Week 12 &#8211; Star Navigation Prototype<\/a><\/blockquote><iframe class=\"wp-embedded-content\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts\" security=\"restricted\" style=\"position: absolute; visibility: hidden;\" title=\"&#8220;Week 12 &#8211; Star Navigation Prototype&#8221; &#8212; E-Jay Tripoli\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.wsagames.com\/et4g23-yr3\/2025\/12\/14\/week-12-star-navigation-prototype\/embed\/#?secret=8JfAfIc4LK#?secret=ZUBFKxKNnN\" data-secret=\"ZUBFKxKNnN\" width=\"500\" height=\"282\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe>\n<\/div><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Playable Prototype of Star Navigation<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Cuttable Content<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Stuff secondary to the priority content, stuff we still really want in the game. But can also be removed if neccessary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Narrative Sections<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>There will be two cutscenes in the game, <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.wsagames.com\/et4g23-yr3\/wp-admin\/post.php?post=399&amp;action=edit\">[Outlined in this post]<\/a> one at the very beginning (Explaining the player character&#8217;s current situation) and one at the very end (Seeing off the player character as they have fixed their magical fish hook):<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Cutscene 1 at the very beginning of the game\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The player character gets washed up on a beach during a storm<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>They are saved by a stranger who knows of their &#8216;secret identity&#8217;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>When the player character wakes up, the stranger tells them that strange things have been happening to the neighbouring islands (Because the magical fish hook&#8217;s pieces have influenced them) and tells the player character that what they seek is on those islands<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>They tell the player to go to the Village on the other side of the island<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cutscene 2 at the end of the game\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The player character&#8217;s magical fish hook is completely fixed<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>They thank the stranger for their help<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>They sail off<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Additional Content<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Stuff that has been brainstormed and thought about implementing, but isn&#8217;t important enough to be prioritised.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Additional Islands\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>As there are 7 player movement mechanics [Scroll up] there could be more islands to introduce more of these mechanics gradually<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Collectables\/Artefacts <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.wsagames.com\/et4g23-yr3\/2026\/01\/09\/early-narrative-ideas\/\">[In this post]<\/a>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Artefacts that could teach the player more about Polynesian culture<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Collectable secrets that could be found in platforming sections (Like the strawberries in Celeste)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>More NPC Interactions<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As we only have a few months to complete this project, its important to know what we will prioritise and realize what we can realistically complete in this time frame.
