What is Kowloon Walled City
Kowloon Walled City was a strategic stronghold of the ancient Chinese army and a small town built on a hillside.
After World War II, a large number of immigrants flooded in, and Kowloon Walled City began to expand vertically.
In just 7 acres of land, 33,000 people lived. It was one of the most densely populated areas on Earth at that time.
Due to the political environment at that time and the issue of power ownership in the colonies, this place became an enclave.
The governments of the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong and the United Kingdom are either unwilling or legally unable to enforce the law here.
For this reason, this place has become a state without government, and illegal phenomena such as drug trafficking, gambling and prostitution are extremely rampant.
Why is there so much "mystery" here?
Because there are a large number of undocumented illegal immigrants, gangs and various criminal activities here, people often die unexpectedly.
There are no records here. People can only hear the truth about these events through hearsay. Coupled with the local folk beliefs, an accident passed down by word of mouth may become a haunted mystery.
Why is this place suitable as a level for horror games
Kowloon Walled City is actually a huge whole. Sidewalks, ladders, pipes and cables are densely connected to the various high-rise buildings, and sunlight can hardly reach the ground.
The dense architectural structure, like a three-dimensional maze, along with the dim and damp interior environment, jointly form this structure that is prone to causing people to get lost, which is a natural horror level structure
Kowloon Walled City in the Film & Photographs
Many films In Hong Kong have adopted the element of Kowloon Walled City, such as Twilight of the Warriors: Walled in, Re-cycle, etc.
I also collected some photographic works and paintings to make reference boards
