Ideation: Narrative

Story of connection

Since the game is about fellowship and companionship, the main narratives would be about the journey of the two main characters. I want to create a main character with a backstory that keeps him isolated from the rest of the outside world, so I chose for the main character to have a backstory of an ex-military who has retired. Born and raised in the army, the only family he has are his brothers in arms, but they have all passed away during wartime. Left alone in this world, he slowly disconnects himself from the rest of the world, believing no one could ever understand him.

Communication through hand gesture

Even though I created the hand mechanic before the narrative, I think it fits really well with the idea of connection. Hand gestures or sign language are more complicated than traditional verbal communication, but it is a sign that two parties are trying to communicate. So I want to create a side character that are reason pushing our main characters together. After his discharge from the army, our main character, Cole, has been hired to become a security guard for a deaf girl, Ana. Sometimes, he notices Ana trying to talk to him through sign language, drawing symbols with her hand, but he does not understand what it means. One day, Ana goes on a holiday. She said she would only go for a week, but has not come back in months. Then a package is being sent to her home, the robot E.V.E., with an advanced weapon system. The only thing is that it can only read hand gestures, not voice commands like every other model. This robot is clearly designed for Ana, but she is missin,g and you have to cooperate with E.V.E to find out what happened.
