This week, we presented our ideas to each other and received feedback from tutors and peers. Most of them were quite impressed with my prototype, which I was pretty happy with.

I have answered all the questions I get during the presentation, and for those who asked through nodenoggin, I also left them a note to explain their confusion. Some of them gave me valuable suggestions which I will take into account in my development progress. One of them gave me a game to look at, “Chants of Sennaar”, which they think would help me if I decided to further develop my hand mechanics into sign language.
Most questions and suggestions I get were:
1. What is the story?
At this point, I did not have the story hashed out yet but the settings would be in a post-apocalyptic world. My main character would be an old model robot who comes across E.V.E., a highly advanced robot, and you have to work together to find other survivors and also the owner of E.V.E. I will definitely work on my story later on.
2. More level design.
A game with complex mechanics like mine needs level design to really shine, which I completely agree with. I need to figure out what a combat level looks like and what a puzzle looks like
3. Have I ever considered using VR?
Yes. Unity even has a built-in package supporting VR and reading hand gestures, which I was interested to try, but I don’t have a VR set, and trying VR for the first time might increase the scope too much. I really love the idea of showing your hand to the webcam, and then it would transfer into the hand mechanics in the game, but I will leave it to my peers if they are interested in my game and want to work more with VR.
Final note:
- Story
- Level Design
- Keep VR in mind
- Chant of Sennaar research
