Core Game Loop

At the start of the game, players have to move up step by step from the bottom to the 14th level. When exploring on levels 2-13, players need to finish the puzzles on each level and get memory pieces. Collect 12 fragments to open the upper-level passageway. Even if you manage to find all the fragments and make it to the 14th floor during your first attempt, the system will still force you to experience a Bad Ending. Failure reset is implemented via a “the more you escape, the more you return to the starting point” cycle which makes one feel even more powerless as if they’re being dragged along by some sort of fate. This ultimately leads to a feeling of giving up in despair because of incompleteness, which is actually a purposeful narrative break in the story that paves the way for awakening during the second playthrough. After the bad ending is triggered, New Game Plus (second playthrough) mode is activated. At this point, in addition to gathering 12 memory fragments, players must also seek out 12 important items at the same time to uncover the hidden clues left behind in the first playthrough, gradually revealing the causes and effects of the “rebellion event” and the forgotten reason. After finishing the hidden plot, when going back to the 14th floor again, the topmost floor unlocks new routes and decision points, enabling the main character to attain “regaining sovereignty over oneself” via personal choice, thereby attaining a good ending.
