We had an intriguing lecture from a guest on Monday; however, this week our priority was the pre-Easter playtest which took place on Thursday. The objective was to examine the stability and clarity of our near-complete core mechanics. We took our latest build of Backchat incorporating the falling leaves and fragments dialogue features and tested out how players would perceive them. The results were encouraging because players did feel the intended social pressure and distractions when trying to engage in conversations with the NPC Tyler. Nevertheless, watching how players played out the game helped us identify that there are some clarity problems that need to be addressed. Some players took quite some time to figure out how to get rid of the falling leaves blocking their view and instead clicked directly underneath the leaves. We collected plenty of data for our Easter break.
