Idea Shortlist

Idea 1: Coffee
Game idea – Build your own coffee shop + idle game. It’s a 2D cosy game where the player has the ability to create and customise furniture, decor and equipment. After which they open their store and it becomes an idle game where they have to ensure efficiency, profitability, happiness and vibe.
Why I like it – Its got unique features whilst also fitting into numerous popular genres. It is within the scope of the final major project length whilst allowing for design choices to be made during development. These idle, cosy and creative games are well suited to be made in Unity allowing me to spend more time on art direction and design choices over learning any new software.
Idea 2: Train Journeys
Game Idea – Productivity route-planning game. It is a productivity game where the player sets a journey and the number of train changes they want, and the journey time refers to how long they want to study and the number of changes determines how many study breaks they want. The appeal of using this ‘game’ is that it imitates a long train journey where you see beautiful scenery outside the window and have the ability to listen to music, listen to train noises or just have headphones on with no audio and allows for a set time to get work done.
Why I like it – its a cosy game idea with an interesting use of games to actually help to do work instead of distracting people from doing work. It also appeals to a massive audience of students and train lovers so there’s a massive pool of users. Simple game to build in Unity and allows for more time invested in polish and game art.

Idea 3: Skiing
Game idea – A sports game where you control a skier / snowboarder through different ski sports such as racing, freestyle & freeride. It would be a mobile casual game where the levels are quick and relatively easy and is more of a sandbox / fun game. It would try to replicate the feeling of each sport from racing being unstable, fast and icy to freestyle being hard and requiring perfect timing and control.
Why i like it – Skiing is one of my passions and is a continuously growing sport so there’s more people to direct the game towards. You can only ski a limited number of times in the year so to have a game that can capture some essences of skiing would be unique and would be loved by people in the ski community. It offers a casual form of playing whilst also having a skill progression through timed races and points which offers an addictive game loop.
