I presented my research, experiments and early game ideas revolved around the theme texture.

Feedback:

  • The majority of the feedback wasn’t to do with my research but more to do with focus and scope.
  • People suggested connecting texture with emotions and memory as this is a method is already used in art
  • There was also some questions raised as to how i could utilise haptics such as the PS5 adaptive triggers and physical controllers to enhance a textures simulation
  • Start focusing on system thinking rather than just the visual representation

My key realisations:

  • This suggested texture isn’t enough to carry a game concept but could it support other core mechanics?
  • Despite the positive reception, some of the feedback backed up my own struggles with coming up with a game concept where texture is the core system.
