Links to examples are embedded in the explanations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table is-style-regular\"><table class=\"has-border-color has-tertiary-border-color has-fixed-layout\" style=\"border-width:1px\"><thead><tr><th>Learning Outcome<\/th><th>Explanation\/Examples<\/th><\/tr><\/thead><tbody><tr><td><strong>A1: <\/strong>Contemporary contexts and issues in the theory and practice of games design and art<\/td><td>These were always taken into consideration when both researching my topics and game ideas, for example, my chosen topic of <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.wsagames.com\/pe1n23\/90s-rave-culture-research\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"1250\">rave culture <\/a>and my prototypes\/ideas explore themes such as <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.wsagames.com\/pe1n23\/game-idea-beatmasher\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"1518\">creative expression under government oppression<\/a> and law enforcement vs. youth culture.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td><strong>A2: <\/strong>how to creatively integrate and employ a range of research approaches and technologies to realise your ideas<\/td><td>For my prototype I have taken on learning a new game engine, Godot, as well as used music software like Ableton to generate audio assets for my prototype.<br><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.wsagames.com\/pe1n23\/godot-prototyping-3\/\">Godot Prototyping 3<\/a><br><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.wsagames.com\/pe1n23\/extra-week-more-prototyping\/\">Extra Week \u2013 More Prototyping<\/a><\/td><\/tr><tr><td><strong>A3: <\/strong>Industry processes, roles, and methods of games development and design thinking<\/td><td>As well as rapid prototyping, my <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.wsagames.com\/pe1n23\/project-proposal\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"1368\">project proposal<\/a> contains multiple examples of industry methods for stucturing and scheduling the project, including kanban boards and gantt charts.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td><strong>A4: <\/strong>A research informed approach to games design and art practice; social, environmental and ethical dimensions of games design and art<\/td><td>For all of my topics I researched their background and surrounding social issues deeply:<br><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.wsagames.com\/pe1n23\/90s-rave-culture-research\/\">90s Rave Culture Research<\/a><br><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.wsagames.com\/pe1n23\/virtual-pets-research\/\">Virtual Pets Research<\/a><br><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.wsagames.com\/pe1n23\/kei-cars-research\/\">Kei Cars Research<\/a><\/td><\/tr><tr><td><strong>A5: <\/strong>Social, environmental and ethical dimensions of games design and art<\/td><td>My <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.wsagames.com\/pe1n23\/90s-rave-culture-research\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"1250\">rave culture<\/a> topic, and particularly my second game idea that was more narrative-focused, tried to focus on social issues such as youth alienation and clashes with authority in government, as well as drug culture. I also detailed and acknowledged the history of the genre rooted in black\/minority ethnic groups and the queer community.<br>My <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.wsagames.com\/pe1n23\/kei-cars-research\/\">kei cars <\/a>topic also touched on environmental concerns surrounding personal vehicles which have given them recent popularity.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td><strong>A6: <\/strong>How to apply commercial and professional skills to a range of contexts<\/td><td>I already have commercial and professional skills in programming, game design and music which can be seen throughout my prototyping devlogs:<br><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.wsagames.com\/pe1n23\/godot-prototyping-1\/\">Godot Prototyping 1<\/a><br><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.wsagames.com\/pe1n23\/godot-prototyping-2\/\">Godot Prototyping 2<\/a><br><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.wsagames.com\/pe1n23\/godot-prototyping-3\/\">Godot Prototyping 3<\/a> <\/td><\/tr><tr><td><strong>B1:<\/strong> Generate ideas, concepts and proposals independently or collaboratively<\/td><td>This can be found throughout my blog posts during Phase 2 and 3, for example my game ideas or prototype work:<br><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.wsagames.com\/pe1n23\/pusher\/\">Game Idea \u2013 Pusher<\/a><br><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.wsagames.com\/pe1n23\/game-idea-beatmasher\/\">Game Idea \u2013 Breakmasher<\/a><br><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.wsagames.com\/pe1n23\/godot-prototyping-1\/\">Godot Prototyping 1<\/a><\/td><\/tr><tr><td><strong>B2: <\/strong>Apply methods of enquiry and reflection to critically evaluate your ideas<\/td><td>I have evaluated and iterated upon my ideas and prototypes through both peer feedback as well as those from tutors:<br><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.wsagames.com\/pe1n23\/week-11-presenting-the-game\/#feedback\">Week 11 \u2013 Presenting the Game: Feedback<\/a><\/td><\/tr><tr><td><strong>B3: <\/strong>Challenge the conceptual and technical boundaries of your discipline<\/td><td>My prototype tries to innovate on the rhythm game formula of testing the players ability to perform to the rhythm, and instead encourages them to break this boundary by going off-beat.<br><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.wsagames.com\/pe1n23\/pusher\/\">Game Idea \u2013 Pusher<\/a><\/td><\/tr><tr><td><strong>B4: <\/strong>Show independent judgments and self-critique in the selection of ideas, materials, tools, techniques and processes<\/td><td>As well as peer feedback I often use my own judgement as a game designer to help shape further ideas when prototyping:<br><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.wsagames.com\/pe1n23\/godot-prototyping-3\/\">Godot Prototyping 3<\/a><\/td><\/tr><tr><td><strong>B5: <\/strong>Inform your practice through reflection on relevant theories<\/td><td>In my research I touched on several relevant theories that helped me flesh out my ideas and game mechanics, for example in my <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.wsagames.com\/pe1n23\/virtual-pets-research\/\">Virtual Pets Research<\/a> where I touched on how they can be used to tackle artificial general intelligence and theories of existentialism (as well as how other games have approached this)<\/td><\/tr><tr><td><strong>B6: <\/strong>Question, review and evaluate personal strengths within industry roles and practices<\/td><td>As someone who is already experienced with graphic design and sound\/music, I chose the game ideas that I could easily apply my skills to.
