Game Roles
Bea mentioned some of roles that comprise the games industry, including programming, design, artists and tools. I am mainly interested in being a programmer in the industry and I am focusing my learning on this by learning Java in my spare time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
AAA is not the only way
Bea stated that the AAA side of the gaming industry is not the only way to get into the industry, there are indie games, mobile games, web games and board games. Personally, I am interested in getting into the industry as an indie games developer rather than the others however I also have a mild interest in getting into board games both personally with playing them and professionally with making them. Bea also mentioned that I can start from Quality Assurance (QA) and move up from there. Personally I haven\u2019t found any QA jobs that would suit me but I will be keeping an eye out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Getting into the games industry
Bea mentioned that I would have at least 3 years of portfolio work that I can demonstrate in my portfolio, this is through also I do have experience making games dating back to 2021 so for me its more like 5 years, and she also mentioned about writing up about my game development work. This is something I have only done for a few projects, particularly university projects, so it would be good to get into the habit of writing up about my game development process, particularly for personal projects and jam projects. Speaking of personal projects, Bea mentioned doing those and I do have a bit of experience with personal projects before, but I would like to do more in the future in order to spice up my portfolio and my game dev credentials more.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
