Week 8

This week’s lecture covered the workflow and standards for game artists. One point in particular that I need to pay attention to at this stage is file naming. I used to name my canvases haphazardly—sometimes in Chinese, sometimes with random characters. This class taught me that in a standardized workflow, naming must be rigorous enough to include the canvas dimensions, as this helps the next person take over the project quickly understand the content and use it effectively. It also reminded me that in the game concept art industry, a single character is often handled by more than one artist, so each layer needs to be clearly labeled to make it easy for the next artist to find what they need. I will pay attention to this in future projects and take naming my canvases seriously.

Second Playtest

I’ve posted the feedback and revisions for each section in the “Development” section.

I’m really happy that there was much less negative feedback on the art during the second playtest compared to the first one.

(The compiled feedback can be found in the “Development” section of the team blog.)
