Actually, I haven’t kept track of the past few weeks for quite some time. I created a poster for this playtest, and the process is also documented in the “Development” section. I printed the poster and some cards, and figured out how to convert PSD files to PDF in Photoshop and send them to the printer.

During the playtest, I played games from nearly every group and provided feedback to members of other groups. I used to be too shy to play other people’s games because my gaming skills and critical judgment were poor, but this time I realized that I could indeed offer effective feedback from a player’s perspective, and I felt a sense of accomplishment from providing useful feedback.

I’d like to make a special mention here: something Marie said had a huge impact on my mindset. I had been constantly anxious that my skill level didn’t match that of the team. It made me feel terrible that the work we’d poured our hearts into wasn’t up to par, and at one point, I even lost confidence in and motivation for my game. But Marie told us that this was just a vertical slice—it didn’t need to be perfect—and that this version was merely a part of the complete game’s development process (please forgive me for not remembering her exact words). This helped me change my perspective on this imperfect work and view it as an experiment.
