Addressing Feedback on Core Game Pillars
During the formative feedback session, the tutor pointed out that my current GDD lacks clearly defined Core Game Pillars. While the document contains narrative ideas, atmosphere goals, and individual mechanics, it does not yet articulate the fundamental design principles that unify these elements into a coherent system.
This feedback made me realise that without explicit Core Game Pillars, the project risks becoming a collection of disconnected features rather than a structured game experience. Core Game Pillars function as a conceptual anchor, guiding design decisions across mechanics, level structure, visual language, and player experience. Their absence made it difficult to clearly communicate what the game is fundamentally about and how different systems support a shared design intent.
In response, I have identified the need to formalise my Core Game Pillars before further expanding the GDD. This shift allows me to re-evaluate existing ideas, discard non-essential elements, and ensure that future design decisions are consistently aligned with a small set of clearly articulated principles.
