Week 2——Game Poem

|What is game poem?

This week’s lesson focused on game poetry. The instructor explained in detail what game poetry is, and before officially starting the lecture, we experienced some games.

At that time, my understanding of game poetry was that it expresses some abstract meaning or emotion through games. However, in later explanations, I realized that game poetry leans more towards poetry than game. I don’t fully understand this approach, but it has one very good advantage: it creates more creative games. After the course, we have a task to create a game poem using Bitsy.

|Game concept:

In my initial concept, my game was meant to be a dream experience for the player, where they would go through different scenarios but ultimately realize that the most important thing is their family.

Due to time constraints, I had to reduce the number of scene transitions, transforming the levels into a gradually forming dreamscape. The old man in the dream and his final lines remind players not to forget their family while adventuring alone.
