Main Game Loop

Moment-to-moment gameplay is advancing text (read → advance → read → advance) while mentally evaluating characters, tone, and future consequences, punctuated by occasional choices that shape the narrative. Specifically, psychological thriller visual novels turn reading and advancing text into a suspense mechanic, using pacing, anomalies, and delayed consequences to make every click feel unsafe.

Story Choices

This prototype was produced by Camilla, our concept artist. It visually portrays how our choices will pop-up and come into play, and the potential consequences to the player when a decision is made. This original prototype was only made using the mouse as the controls, however we will make a version that also includes keyboard integration.

These story choices will occur during the majority of the games in-between moments, but not so frequently that it loses impact to the player and narrative. The narrative will dictate how the choices will be spread out, and as the game is a closed-world game limited to two different spaces, the computer and bedroom, the main narrative-changing choices will only occur on the computer. Normal interactability with no real consequence will occur in the bedroom majority of the time, with a few occurring on the computer. They have no impact on the narrative but play a huge role in immersion tactics and filler.
