Sprint 4 – A Busy Sprint! Fixing Bugs & Creating new ones…

Posted on April 1, 2026
  • Highlighted Green = Completed
  • Highlighted Yellow = Working
  • Highlight Red = Not Started

🟢 Priorities

  • Coding the hair braiding game
  • Conversations popping up
  • Start Screen
  • Dialogue working
  • Tooltips
  • Characters showing in the game

🟠 Necessary but not urgent right now

  • Start screen, bare bones
  • 3D models of cardboard objects
  • 3D Modelling Objects (Crumpled paper)

🔴 Style Points (Add if everything gets done on time or if it is very simple to code)

  • Hands Moving
  • Cloud Movement
  • Beginning cutscene & fade in start scene

Week 7, Week 8 & Week 9 (30/03/2026 – 19/04/2026)

  • I made the cover image for the winchester.games site with Hayley’s logo, background art, and some paper from Adobe Stock images. I wanted to focus on a paper-crafty aesthetic for the logo so people would understand the game’s main aspect.

  • ^ I spent the beginning of this sprint working on my website. It took me 3 days to get it to this state. As the game progresses, I hope to add more to make the site welcoming and full of character like the game is.
  • This is what the game currently looks like. There is a Beginning -> Main World link now. Early in the next sprint, there will be a Main Menu -> Beginning -> Mainworld link in time for the 22nd April Playtest.
  • All the different objects have their tooltips working, but the crumpled piece of paper is not fully functional, as it has an interact button that will reveal additional lore.

4th Sprint Playtest

I got another person I know outside the course to test the game. Here is how they rated the game:

Conclusion of the playtest – Results Simplified

(Did I have this issue last playtest? = 🟠)

What I noticedWhat do they like? What can I improve on?
– Issues with trying to move around, a little confused– Visuals and Lore
– Object “Scavenging”
– Including a ‘How to Play’ guide in the game
– Pushing players to the object-collecting side of the game through dialogue or finishing the 3D models (will make players want to click on it more).

Reflection of the Sprint

Like last sprint, I am a little behind again, but I feel more confident as I have been mainly focusing on bug fixing and general issues with the game. My main issue is that I haven’t properly started on the minigames yet. I have greyboxed them, but within the time limits, I’m not sure how to add these features. Right now, I am thinking of simplifying one feature so I can pay more attention to the other. Papercutting is going to be cut out of the game at this point, but not completely shut out. Hopefully, there will be an NPC that alludes to it.

If I were to simplify a mechanic, it would be braiding, as it is harder to code. Body Painting is something I think I can do, as I’ve seen a few tutorials that may help me.
