Essential Experience
Memory is not only a record of the past, but a guide for the future.
Concept Origin
Inspired by the fleeting beauty of the epiphyllum, a flower that blooms only for one night, symbolising the transient yet meaningful moments of life.
Experience Description
The player wanders through a soft, luminous city, collecting fragments of memory that reflect the quiet strength hidden in ordinary life.
Key Quote
Even the briefest bloom is proof of care.
Core Game Loop

Awaken – Enter the Polar Night
- Player awakens into a world under perpetual polar night
- Each login represents one awakening; logging out becomes rest
- All previously collected memories are retained and reviewable
Discover – Notice the Unusual
- Player actively discovers subtle but unusual elements in the environment
- These elements may contain memory fragments or temporary buffs / debuffs
- Discover requires attention, not guidance
Explore – Slow Movement and Observation
- Core actions: Walk / Observe / Listen
- Exploration is calm and non-urgent
- Progress is driven by curiosity rather than objectives
- Players may interact socially with others or NPCs
- Some memories require cooperative reading (2–3 participants)
Collect – Read and Experience Memory
- Memory fragments are experienced in first-person perspective
- Gameplay occurs within the memory itself
- Successful completion automatically collects the memory
- Failed attempts result in no collection
Reflect – Recontextualize Memory
- Reflection automatically occurs in safe spaces
- Player views a complete third-person version of the memory
- Collected memories can be revisited freely
Heal – Stabilisation of World and Self
- Healing affects both the world state and player condition
- Certain areas may recover or become accessible
Grow – Connection Between Memories
- Growth is represented by emerging links between memories
- This unlocks deeper understanding rather than numerical power
Break – Optional Pause and Social Space
- Break is a player-chosen pause state
- World continues to function normally
Fall into Memory – Enter Memory Layer
- Player chooses whether to enter a memory fragment
- Reading more memories expands or unlocks new maps
- Player may remain in current space if they choose not to enter
Design Intention
This project draws inspiration from my first solo journey abroad – walking alone through unfamiliar streets, surrounded by strangers, yet experiencing profound freedom and rebirth.
What I wish players to experience is a quiet rebirth – to understand that ordinariness is not mediocrity, but a quiet strength. We are shaped not by outcomes, but by daily actions and care.
This understanding that ordinariness is not mediocrity, but a quiet kind of peace – came to me during my solo journey, and I hope to share this gentle sense of reassurance through the game.
Inspired by the epiphyllum, an ephemeral bloom that blooms only briefly at night,
it reminds us: fleetingness does not equate to meaninglessness.
Persistence and ordinariness themselves can forge a gentle eternity.
Even the briefest bloom is proof of care.
