Developer
Before the day
Before our lesson with Jamie Blacknell, I wanted to quickly look over his work and just jott down my findings.

Jamie is a game developer utilising Unity to carry out his projects. He has currently 3 years of professional experience as a developer. Outside of work, he loves music and likes to DJ in his free time. He also runs a DnD company.
Moonskipper Launchpad

This is one of the projects he was involved in and he was responsible for the special effects as well as making a visually stunning environment. Collaborating with the art director, he made sure the director’s vision was met. He made particle risers and trails, distortion under the engines, coolant ejectors and the main rocket boosters. To make the lighting for the reveal, he used the skybox and dynamic lights around the star ship.
Portage: A mindful Journey

In this project, Jamie developed a canoe mechanic that gives the player a break between each island. His team deliberately made each canoe section longer to encourage the player to be mindful of what they’ve discovered. His team designed a couple pages in the game’s menu to track each interaction they have found, some are passive, whilst others must track each interaction they have found.
Although I don’t understand what goes behind the scenes of being a game developer, I came up with a few questions to ask him on the day of his lecture.
