Phase 3: reflection

These reflection paragraphs will be their review of weeks 5-8!

We had a presentation for week 5, but I was unwell that day and had to skip it. I still made a presentation, but I didn’t get any feedback on it, so I missed out on a great opportunity to get feedback or view anyone else’s game theme.

After reflecting on the situation, it helped me realize the importance of presenting and feedback. It made me aware of the importance of asking for feedback from peers. It could have helped develop more confidence in expressing my thoughts in professional settings, so I’ll try not to miss the next presentation!

For week 6, I wanted to begin thinking about what I wanted to convey for my game from the lecture Jordan gave. I came up with a few ideas and ultimately began asking others around me for their suggestions and feedback on my ideas. I also worked on my blog so as not to fall behind.

For week 7, we got formative feedback from Adam. It was also reading week, and since I had missed vital feedback from the last presentation. I was happy to get feedback.

The feedback gave me a few possibilities for my next step. I was suggested to research different types of games that fit my theme.

This feedback advised me to think thoroughly about my next decision. It helped me understand the importance of research. Reflecting on the formative feedback helped me look at my current blog and rethink whether I’m falling behind or making the correct judgments about how I further develop my ideas. It also helped experience feedback as a helpful part of the process.

After coming back to week 8, I felt a little behind, so this week I decided to make sure to update my blogs, just to try and get back on track and make sure I didn’t overwhelm myself and get my time management back on track!

I also experimented with lots of game concepts, but I was a bit stuck on how to convey the uncertainty and ambiguity inherent in folklore. Reflecting on brainstorming helped me understand its value in thinking of game ideas. It inspired me to be more experimental.
