Initial Ideas

I’ve always found Mythology to be interesting and fun, I was especially obsessed with Egyptian and Greek mythos when I was younger but I wanted to look into it from a more sociological standpoint – why do we have mythos? How come it can be found all around the world?

This is a bit of a weird one because it’s drawn from personal experience in relationships, particularly romantic relationships. Love is a very complex emotion and despite the numerous films, literature and music surrounding it – I believe there are infinite ways to feel and portray it. I particularly like the way it’s often linked to the concept of fate.

While I don’t like horror media and find it difficult to watch, I love zombie media. As morbid as it sounds, I love the concept of an apocalypse. I researched this a lot for my Film Studies A-level and have always found it fascinating, Zombies are monsters with very interesting and rich history behind them.

Over the last year I’ve picked up a big love for terrariums (and making terrariums). I’m infamous for being a bad plant parent, unfortunately my death count is too embarrassing to share. But terrariums are different, I find that they are the most care free and beautiful microcosms of nature. Holding a terrarium feels like holding a miniature Earth in your hands.

Kickboxing is probably one of my weakest research topics since its the one I’ve most recently gotten into. I’ve always liked combat sports and have enjoyed watching UFC for as long as I can remember, but it’s never been anything I took any more seriously than watching it with my dad whenever it happened to be on the TV. Now that I’ve started practising the sport, I have a new found appreciation for it and it’s contribution to the fighting world.
