On our first day back we’re briefed on a new project to occupy us for the first semester.
Individually, we will work on a design document for an original game, with our ideas stemming from the word “movement.”
Movement is quite a broad term and encompasses various different themes and concepts which could make the idea generating phases quite intimidating.
This made me want to get a head start on this process so I started mapping out a mind map to develop on these ideas.

You can see the initial exploration here, that covers the idea of movement in a story- such as degradation and changes, or more on the conceptual side such as alchemical transfiguration, disease, certain animals and sports. I also considered the idea of the ending of movement and examining that, in the context of death or terminal illness.
From this, the idea that captivated me the most was the notion of a hiking accident. Within that, I could capture the other concepts such as wildlife, death and disease. Unfortunately I would be more hard pressed to include alchemical transfiguration. Nature is very influential to me, it inspires me in a lot of my creative work and I am in permanent awe of it. Within media, I especially love scenarios where humans are at its mercy.
The survival genre in video games is very popular probably for similar reasons and I aim to analyse games further as we get within the meat of this project.
