Sprint 4 Playtest

After finalising the functionality of the game, we had some of our peers playtest the game, these were the notes we took and the feedback they gave us:

Addressing the feedback

Fix 1

Esi found that she kept accidentally wall jumping instead of jumping up 1 tile. To fix this I decided to alter the size of the player’s wall climb hitbox:

This prevents the player from accidentally wall jumping if they slightly hit the side of a wall at the button of Kauri’s hitbox.

Fix 2

When Parker played out level 2, they found that the sideways bounce pad abruptly returned control to the player and completely removed the force applied by the sideways bounce pad. This is because I had to prevent the player horizontal inputs effecting Kauri’s movement during the sideways bounce pad, otherwise it would overwrite the sideways bounce pad immediately.

However, this would cause an unexpected change in speed when using the bounce pad – as control is returned to the player. To address this, instead of returning horizontal movement to the player on a timer, it is instead returned when the player:

Adjusting level 1 room, made this jump slightly easier as there was no consistent set up for the jump:
