To promote our game I decided to edit two videos, one being a gameplay trailer and the other being a short video of our games intro scene.
Intro Cutscene Video
To make this video, I took the separate panels of our intro scene and introduced them with an opacity fade:

Then with free sounds I found on Pixabay, I layered these audio tracks onto different

I also vary the volume of the audio for more emphasis when certain panel shows up. Like the sound of this large wave crashing at 0:11.

Gameplay Trailer
To start creating the gameplay trailer, I wanted to find royalty free music that would fit the vibe of the game. But it was taking me a while to find one I liked so I asked Paula:

But this song didn’t really suit the vibe I wanted, so I chose the second one Paula sent me:

However, It took me a while to decide what part of the song I wanted to use. As it was a 4 minute song and the gameplay trailer could only realistically be 30 seconds at maximum.
Eventually I chose to use a part of the song at around 2:00 – 2:30. As it wasn’t as intense as the end of the song, but it wasn’t too mellow like the beginning. There was also a section at around 2:20 where there is a slight crescendo and then it mellows down where I was planning to put a title screen.
As this was a gameplay trailer, I wanted to show different aspects of the game – being introduced as specific beats of the song. But I also didn’t want to show too much of the game.

To market our game, Paula created an instagram account for both of us to post to:

I also created a build of the game and submitted the zipped file to an itch.io game upload:

To further help with outreach, I also posted these videos on my LinkedIn:
