These interactive elements are not designed as traditional “items”, but as responsive parts of the world.
They gently influence the player’s movement, attention, and emotional rhythm during exploration.
Noctelume(Nocturnal + Lumen)

Type
Memory-bound Environmental Flora / Temporary Interactive Element
Noctelume is a nocturnal bloom existing solely within memory fragments.
It does not appear in the main world, instead generating randomly as an unstable element within memory spaces.
Its appearance probability is higher within main storyline memory fragments,
serving as a gentle reward for thorough exploration rather than a mandatory encounter.
It constitutes part of the memory system rather than a permanently obtainable item.
Function
Ephemeral Reward · Exploration Reinforcement · Memory Feedback
• Appears randomly within memory fragments
• Higher spawn rate in main narrative memories
• Grants a temporary random buff when approached
• Cannot be collected, stored, or extracted
When players discover Noctelume within memory fragments and draw near,
they receive a fleeting, random enhancement to abilities (such as movement or perception).
The blossom itself cannot be gathered and will not enter the inventory.
Its effect exists solely within the present memory experience,
dissipating naturally as the memory concludes.
The reward is for “exploration in the moment,” not for long-term possession.
Design Intention
The core of Noctelume’s design lies not in amplifying numerical values,
but in emphasising the essence of memory:
fleeting, irreproducible, yet capable of genuinely propelling you forward in a single moment.
By confining the flower to memory fragments,
its presence becomes contextual rather than systemic.
Players cannot take it away, nor rely on it for repeated use;
they can only accept its response in the instant of encounter.
This design of “impermanence”
deliberately avoids turning the memory object into a tool,
instead rendering it closer to a gentle encounter.

Visual Development
Noctelume’s visual design has centred on the concept of “fleeting presence within the night” from its inception.
• Early sketches explored fragile silhouettes and soft petal rhythms
• Colour choices avoided high saturation to prevent visual dominance
• Light intensity was specifically tested within dark memory environments
In light-dark contrast diagrams,
nighttime luminescence was controlled as low-brightness, low-range soft light,
ensuring it never became a strong guiding point, but rather required players to actively approach to detect it.
This visual treatment reinforced its existence as something “to be discovered, not directed towards”.
Bouncing Mushroom

Type
Environmental Creature / Temporary Buff Object
Function
A living mushroom that constantly jumps around the environment.
When captured and used, it grants a temporary movement buff, allowing the player to jump higher and move faster.
Design Intention
This element represents fleeting moments of energy and momentum.
Its temporary nature reinforces the idea that not all power is meant to last — some moments are valuable precisely because they are brief.
Visual Development
From initial sketches to final coloring, the mushroom’s exaggerated motion and soft glow were designed to make it noticeable but not aggressive within the environment.
Buried Dream Casket

Type
Interactive Object / Memory Container
Function
A wooden casket partially buried in soil, containing a memory fragment.
Once discovered, players can choose to actively enter the memory stored inside.
Design Intention
The Dream Casket embodies the idea that meaningful memories are often hidden within ordinary, overlooked places.
Digging it out is not about reward, but about willingness to engage with the past.
Visual Development
The casket’s worn textures and earthy color palette were developed to blend naturally into the environment, encouraging careful observation rather than direct guidance.
Gazer Sheep

Type
Ambient Creature / Social Obstruction
Function
A Gazer Sheep that reacts to prolonged eye contact.
Staring at a sheep for too long will gradually attract more of its kind, forming a crowd that can block paths and slow movement.
Design Intention
Rather than acting as enemies, the sheep represent social pressure and unintended attention.
They encourage players to learn when to observe — and when to look away.
Visual Development
The simplified facial contrast and clustered silhouettes were explored through multiple sketch iterations to balance clarity, softness, and presence.
These elements are not obstacles to overcome,
but parts of a world that quietly responds to how the player moves, looks, and lingers.
