Goals

Personal Goals

This project stems from my interest in intuition as an act of judgement. In many cases, people do not act after fully understanding the rules and weighing all possibilities, but rather make choices in a state of uncertainty, or even a bit of hesitation. I wanted to use this project to understand how this type of judgement occurs in the gaming experience, and how it gradually changes over time.

I am more interested in the way intuition manifests itself in concrete situations than in studying it as an abstract concept. Like how do players get clues when they don’t have enough time to stop and think, or have no access to information? Where do these judgements come from, is it from the environment, pacing or physical reactions? By designing relevant playable content, I hope to observe how intuition changes under different conditioned environments, rather than remaining at a theoretical level.

In this process, I also hope to have a clearer understanding of the creative direction I am interested in. In my previous studies and designs, I found that I am more interested in space, rhythm and psychology related content. This project provides an opportunity for me to continue to investigate whether these interests can be successfully transformed into games.

Professional Goals

From a project perspective, my core goal is to complete a fully structured and playable game prototype. It needs to contain a clear structure and a well-defined core gameplay, as well as content that can withstand repeated testing.

During the production process, I want to focus on exercising my skills in system design and interaction, rather than pursuing the quantity of content. Through constant testing and adjustments, I hope to gradually clarify which mechanisms really affect player behaviour, and which designs are not so effective.

At the same time, I also hope to ensure completion by firstly planning the production cycle and depth reasonably, so as to avoid the overall imbalance or incompletion due to excessive design ambitions. Through this process, I hope to improve my ability to turn ideas into executable design solutions.

Success Criteria

In this project, I am more interested in the player’s gaming experience than in the difficulty of the game or the complexity of the system. Therefore I have the following desired goals:

Firstly, whether the player, upon entering the game, can understand the basic gameplay and objectives with less external instructions, and eventually grasp the final core rules. Secondly, will the players develop their own ways of responding after experiencing states of hesitation, tension and quick judgement during play.

In addition, I would also focus more on the stability of the game system itself. Whether the core gameplay loop is clear and whether the challenges within different rooms can be used successfully. Finally, this game also wants to show that: Intuition is an important element that appears in the structure of our interactions.
