Attractiveness of the project
At first glance the player will feel that this is a 2D decryption escape game with clear structure and simple rules. The elements of corridors, doors, rooms, buttons and keys are very intuitive and easy to understand.
The real attraction is that the game doesn’t tell you which choice is the right one. All choices look pretty much the same, but become more and more difficult under the pressure of time. Instead of being pushed back by the difficulty, players will be drawn forward by the uncertainty that builds.
Trailer
The trailer will emphasise the overall sense of pace, space and pressure.
It will likely contain the following:
- The player advancing through a corridor with the poisonous fog constantly descending above them
- Multiple identical doors appearing in the frame
- Rapidly switching shots of the room
- The end of the screen showing ‘It’s your turn to make a choice’
The overall sound effects will be staccato, but remain restrained overall. Tension will be created through low frequencies, repetition and tempo changes.
What the Steam Store will look like
On the Steam Store page, ROOM-9 will be presented as an indie game with simple rules but a tense experience.
The visuals will emphasise:
- Pixel style with grey graphics
- A clear spatial structure
- Strong contrasts
The text will not be stacked with system constructions, but more focused on the experience.
