Summary: Ever After High is about the children of fairy tale characters who attend school, divided into ‘royal’ (Apple White, daughter of Snow White) and ‘rebels’ (Raven Queen, daughter of the Evil Queen). The school expects students to follow in their parents’ footsteps, but tensions arise when the rebels refuse to follow fate and try to write their own stories, breaking from the script.

teenage children of fairytale characters who attend a magical boarding school where they are expected to follow their parents’ destinies, but a conflict arises between “Royals,” who embrace their fates (like Apple White), and “Rebels,” who want to write their own stories (like Raven Queen), threatening their existence if they deviate from the script, leading to adventures as they choose between destiny and free will.

  • Why did I pick this TV series:
    • Despite the fact that they all share a similar base, the art style is distinct and enjoyable to view. Their clothing and colour palette are truly authentic and meaningful. You can tell/assume what fairy tale they come from.
    • I rewatched this series since it mentioned some of my core concepts, and I was intrigued by how it explored the contradictions between free will and destiny.
  • How this film influences my ideas:
    • The unique art style
    • Character design
    • Environment inspiration
    • Use of fate and free will
    • Storytelling
