Project Overview:

Hi, I’m Riya Limbu. My role will be solo developing Narrator (placeholder name) for people to enjoy!

This may contain: a drawing of a white bird with pink eyes and nose, sitting in front of a white background

Goals:

Personal goals: I want to be able to create a completely playable game while also improving my art and programming skills.

Game goals: I want to challenge myself and complete the game way earlier than the deadline, so it will give me time to focus on perfecting it.

Professional angle goals: Ensure that the game meets industry standards.

Title: Narrator ( Placeholder name)

Genre: Interactive adventure game

Platform: PC/Mac

Project proposal :

Abstract: You wake up in a magical forest, and you forgot how you got there. All you know is you need to get back home to your darling cat, Miss Mya. As you venture deeper into the forest, you stumble across weird creatures and catch an annoying voice narrating your every move. While you continue deeper, will you continue your journey home or try to seek something more?

Hook: You find yourself in an enchanted forest with lost memories; all you know is that you need to get home for Miss Mya. While there may be ups and downs with puzzles, you’ll eventually reach home, right?

Core idea: You play as a witch waking up in an enchanted forest, unable to speak, and with a mysterious voice dictating your every movement. Strange things happen when the narrator isn’t present. Will you be able to go back to your cat or run into something sinister?

Anchor: The game is anchored around getting back home to her beloved cat. The choices given should reflect getting home, but as you continue trying to get home, you question going back home at all.

The Appeal: Your decisions help explore the little witch’s story, maybe not always for the better.

I want to create a 1-minute trailer uploaded to Steam, YouTube, and Itch.io to engage more players and give a sneak peek at what the game would be about.

What inspired me: The inspiration for the game stemmed from children’s fairy tales, fate, and previous research into existing 2D story-driven games, such as Little Misfortune and Franbow. Personally, I’ve always been fascinated by story-driven games and how engaging they are. I initially planned to create a game using pre-existing fairy tales meant for children; however, I decided to develop my own story about a witch missing her cat.
