AI and Communication
I liked our team because individually we were strong. I provided the narrative and artwork. Kevin was great at coding and making sure assets worked together in Unity. Yangsong made the world enticing to explore in. Iris unified the experience with her music and imported my narrative to the engine too.
However we didn’t build on eachothers potential because of a lack lot of communication.
My narrative was passed to AI and was game tested on the 19th of March. There was also an AI voice over which read the dialouge of the opening narrative. Moreover, I was never notified that this was happening; I was only aware about it when we were play-testing. I never agreed for AI generation to be used.
I wasnt sure what the point of it was. They needed a placeholder for the intro however, I had the script ready. When I eneded up confronting Kevin, he agreed that the final result of the game will have no AI, and my content will be used properly. I kept repeating myself that you can always message me if you don’t like what I do. It didn’t end up mattering much because where AI was used was only to improve my opening narrative, which was something that had to be scrapped anyway.
Instead of asking me to improve my writing, it was simply passed onto AI. Or the work I was supposed to be doing, wasn’t done by me. For example, descriptions of items or sprites were written by others. On one hand I should’ve stepped up, created descriptions and made them to replace that writing. On the other hand, if they talked to me about how a new item has been added they could’ve asked if i’d make a description for it? Or if I can re-write the intro sequence because I think it is missing xyz.
What ended up happening on the playtest in the 19th of March is I didn’t actually get proper feedback for my narrative, as criticism came from how well the AI has written it. This was a wasted opportunity that wasn’t within my control. Although the feedback wasn’t about my work, I knew the AI writing was at a similar length so I decided to remove to intro entirely. Because of that, I could focus more on my narrative through dialogue and my character sprites, which luckily wasn’t enhanced with AI.
My AI use
My AI use came from using Claude as a search engine. I ask it for sources to the information it gives me so i can read about it in depth. In Claude’s settings, I customised it to add sources that link towards our chat.

Overall, it was very useful as it provided relevant links on blogs that I don’t think I would’ve found otherwise.
