Week 11 – Gallery Presentation 🖥️

Posted on December 8, 2025

Today, we did the final presentation of the semester at the John Hansard Gallery in Southampton. This was where we talked about our final game idea. Hayley and I have not decided the name yet.

I thought the “Why?” section was good for clarifying about some of the choices we made for the game, since many were still confused this week when I described my game to them.

I felt like the moodboards weren’t as cohesive as they could be, so after the presentation, Hayley and I discussed how we could compromise with the style so we both get what we like.

The full presentation:

Feedback

“You play as an imaginative little girl helping to maintain your dolls and their village that you
created using arts and crafts supplies. Help them with their tasks: create lace using bobbins cut paper for the village, braid hair, and paint while you learn more about their lives. The fantasy is perfect — until conversations from the real world start seeping in, and eventually, you are forced to confront your reality.”

Feedback:

  • Your visual and environmental ideas are strong, but several aspects of the actual
gameplay experience are still unclear; it would help to define more specifically what
some of the mini-games are and how they will work.
    • Answer: The minigames have now properly been decided: Braiding, Painting and Cutting Paper instead of lace bobbins. After I talked with Hayley, I wanted it to be something the child character could do without it being too out of her skill level.
    • Braiding: Braiding 3 strands
    • Painting: Painting on a doll
    • Cutting Paper: what it says on the tin
  • In your project proposal, focus on being clear about how gameplay, narrative, and
aesthetics will fit together into a cohesive experience for the player.
