Developing the Village Scene

Thanks to the planning and research done in the following post, this early development of the village scene was made a lot easier:

Paula took the instructions I asked of her, with the house assets, and developed them perfectly. Now, with the following assets, all I had to do was give the platforms some collision for the player to stand on – and lay them out in the scene.

Giving the houses collision

For all of the following houses, I used the exact same functionality as the one-way platforms to give them their collision. This allows the player to jump up onto the houses from below, without falling through them:

The following platforms are slightly different, as they require the player to unlock an ability to get to. Locking star information behind progression.

This house will require the grappling hook to reach, as it is too tall to jump up to:

This house asset has a tree next to it with another collider that will allow the player to wall climb up it, after they obtain that ability:

Decorative assets

Paula also sent me extra decorative assets to populate the scene:

And some background images to test with parallax:

Eventually, deciding on the second background image to test, so she sent me some iterations of the same background to test:

Unblurred background
6% Gaussian blur background
18% Motion blur background
