Werewolf survival game

Ideation

Maybe make a real life prototype of the map have dark and neo colours retro themed settings Wolf Among Us inspiration.

After reading the review from my fellow students, one included a game that I could make about a werewolf trying to prove that he is not a monster to the civilasiation almost like a Frankstein story, I wanted to have an idea where it would require a board game and at first this could be intersting so came-up with an idea of an imposter game revolving around werewolves.

However quickly found-out there is a game called Werewolf which does the same thing.

Werewolves / mafia

Werewolves is a social deduction party game where hidden Werewolves try to eliminate the uninformed Villagers. The villagers try to identify and lynch the Werewolves during daily debates, all orchestrated by a Moderator through alternating night (killing) and day (discussion/voting) phases until one team wins. Thought how I could take that idea and make it innovative and original.

Survive without alarming the humans however because you are a monster the humans would attempt to kill you even though you are not doing anything bad. The game would be narrative survival game with having to make sure you avoid civilisation and sneak around their towns to steal food supplies for yourself and feed a family of cubs.

The game instead of cards would have a map, where die rolls could lead to you getting caught or evading the humans.

Players

1-4

A “pack” working together game

The white card models

Used for films to plan shots and cinematography to portray an accurate shot, used in movies like WALL-E, the Harry Potter series for sets like Hogwarts Castle, The Lord of the Rings for planned sets, and Denis Villeneuve’s Dune. This allowed the team to visualise the set and scale and keeping the imagination real.

Map inspiration could create a map:

Looking at Dungeon And Dragons to help support my narrative story telling survival in this game.

The creepy settings found in Little Nightmares series could fit the theme in my game, as you would play a creature who would try to avoid humans and sneak around them. This also reminds me how my gameplay time with V rising having a human form ability, to conceal yourself and impersonate a human would be a cool ability to have in my werewolf game.

The anchor point

A narrative driven board game, with teamwork elements and working together to survive as scared and hungry werewolves. Taking a different approach to murder mystery game rather trying to do what video-games can into a board game.

Rules

1-4 players play as a pack of werewolf with the sole intend to survive a harsh winter, and feed their cubs. The humans believe they are ruthless monsters and make-up stories and legends about their ferocious nature. However, in reality they are innocent and are just trying to survive. Having to steal food from humans and wear hoods to hide their identities. The players / player need to feed their cubs before starvation.

Possible direction I might take with this:

Make it into a video-game instead if board game proves too difficult with the concept.

Video Games that follow a similar animal premise

In the Endling: Extinction Is Forever: you play as a fox mother hunting and stealing food to support your cubs and allow them to grow in a world with high human destruction, destroying their home and habitat while you have to navigate around.

Wolf Quest Game contrastingly to Endling’s human destruction, Wolf Quest is taking place in the wide greenery of National Park America and shows the survival nature of wolves and gameplay mechanics orientated around hunting has a more positive spin on the natural life which can be seen with the extremely different trailer styles seen below. While Endling: Extinction Is Forever game, shows the impact of climate change and human interference and requires the player to think more about the human impact on the other inhabitants of earth.
