Feedback and Reflection
Feedback that I recieved based on my three game ideas presentation:
- It’s difficult to understand the gameplay of Idea 2, I should make a prototype to demonstrate it clearer and make sure that it is playable and fun
- Idea 1 seems to be the strongest idea but it needs more development and a firmer idea of what form this game could take
- Since I want to do comics after University, I should try to tie an idea to comics, idea 1 would be best for this
- I could do idea 1 in the form of a choose your own adventure comic
- With a smaller scope, it could be possible to do idea 1 as a video game on my own (since I plan to work on my own) either using Unity or Ren’Py, maybe by using interactive comic panels akin to the Pilgrim comic DLC for Cult of the Lamb

- Idea 3 was the weakest idea and not much direction
On reflection, I think that the feedback was generally positive and gave me valuable ideas for how I would continue in my development. I had the most positive feedback for idea 1 and I am therefore inclined to pick this idea for the game idea, although I think I need to further develop both ideas 1 and 2 before I can be sure of which idea I want to pick.
Feedback that I recieved based on my Project Proposal Presentation:
- Clear and cohesive aesthetic direction
- I need to better define the mechanics of the comic and how it is gamified, like puzzles – what sets it apart from other graphic novel adventures
- Replayability and how does failure work
- clarify the narrative further – important since it is a comic, timeline key plot points
- Further develop the worldbuilding, how does magic work in this world + effect it
Based on this feedback, I think that it is imperative that I try to timeline my narrative and define the gameplay clearly so that I have a solid foundation for next semester. This will include further worldbuilding development, ensuring that all the aspects of my game will be cohesive and immersive.
