Multiple Choice

When faced with a choice, the player can make the choice either for free, or by spending money, or by unlocking a choice by befriending/building skills. This choice is made by flipping to the panel highlighted next to the choice.

Tokens

Not used by the player, used to calculate which ending you get. You get + or – tokens throughout the game dependant on the choices you make.

Skills

Increase skill levels by doing skill-based actions. A skill-based action will use a d6 to calculate the gains (Charisma and Moneymaking). Skills have 1-4 levels, each level adds +1 to the gains (Charisma and Moneymaking). Some actions will be locked without a certain minimum skill level.

Moneymaking – actions that make money use this skill

Printing – actions that print books use this skill

Charisma – social interactions use this skill

Knowledge – actions that need knowledge use this skill

Money

Needed to print books.

Suitcase

This is where the player stores items that they collect that are relevant later.

Books

Where the player marks how many books they have printed and how full the rebellion library is. This needs to be complete to get the rebellion ending. Each row of books completed adds a knowledge skill level. I felt that this was important to emphasise the importance of education and knowledge, demonstrated through the game mechanics.

Relationships

Relationship sheet concept

Relationships are important throughout the narrative: gain allies that will support you and give you information. Certain characters have a dynamic affiliation that you can change by befriending them. The player can keep track of their relationships by using the relationship sheet. Relationships will have a big impact on your token score.

Puzzles

Puzzles will manifest as hidden numbers and objects that can help you make choices throughout the narrative.
