Art Style Research
Visuals play a significant role in how players experience the game and I wanted to make sure that the art style I choose aligns with what the game is trying to achieve (in this case, a great immersion). Below I present the desk-based research I conducted on what art style to choose for Vengeance Incarnate, along with sketches I made.
Moodboards
In the file below are moodboards I prepared to explore the possible art styles for my concept. Hyperrealism and minimalism fall into the category of my favourite ones.
Sketches
Sketches of a crow that were aiming to help me choose the art style for Vengeance Incarnate. Although the goal is to make the game in a realistic 3D art style, I made 2D alternatives in simpler art styles in case I need to scope down on the project. Between the two, I’m leaning towards the stylized realistic style, as I think it will create the feeling of immersion and nostalgia more than the minimalistic one.

Environment Art Research
Colour Palette Research – Kitchen
Kitchen is an example location that is going to be present in Vengeance Incarnate. In order to get a better understanding of how colours affect the reception of the game I made some colour palettes that I will consider when developing the environment.

In contrast, this is how my colour palettes looked like before research:
