Production Schedule
Below, I present a development calendar taking into consideration the production of assets that need to be done without affecting the core quality of the game. The plan is flexible, so if during development stage I notice that it requires adjustment, I will introduce changes immediately.
Week 1
- Finalize the core project vision
- Lock scope for the project
- Create polished narrative outline and branching choices
- Prepare production board (tasks, priorities, milestones)
Week 2
- Write intro narrative
- Create character concept art
- Create environment concept art
- Greybox main locations
Week 3
- Implement camera system
- Implement player controller and interaction system
- Implement basic narrative delivery
- Implement autosave and manual save feature
Week 4
- Implement raven-specific mechanics (flying & landing, attacking)
- Implement basic animal-specific animations
- Implement danger system (environmental threats)
- Implement early sound placeholders
Week 5
- Implement mouse-specific mechanics (climbing, biting)
- Implement survival elements (health and stamina bars)
- Implement environment interactions unique to mouse gameplay
Week 6
- Set up temporary UI feedback for danger and survival
- Implement cat-specific mechanics (meowing, scratching)
- First playtest
Week 7
- Create 3D animal models
- Create 3D key props
- Replace greybox environments with early final meshes
- Set up basic lighting
Week 8
- Create/collect sound assets (ambience, animal movement & sounds, interaction sounds)
- Narrative audio elements
- Implement sound design
Week 9
- Create UI concept art (menus, dialogue screens, settings & save UI)
- Implement: clear, well- spaced layout; adjustable font size; highlighted interactables & key info
- Implement gameplay tutorials with visual guidance
Week 10
- Implement accessibility features (as many from the list as possible)
- Ensure the narrative speed can be controlled by the player
- Playtesting in terms of accessibility
Week 11
- Balance animal mechanics
- Polish animations, sound timing, UI flow
- Improve narrative transitions
- Fix potential bugs
Week 12
- Final playtesting
- Fixing critical issues
- Performance optimization
