Sound Design
Overall, the sound design in Vengeance Incarnate aims to deepen the player’s immersion, support the emotional narrative, and reflect the player’s reincarnated form as an animal. Audio acts as a narrative layer, communicating the protagonist’s inner state and the perspective shift from human to the one’s of a chosen animal.
The action takes place in an early 2000s Polish environment, which means the sounds present in the game will include wind through fields, distant traffic, village sounds, forests and rural wildlife.
The sound design will change depending on which animal the player is currently playing as. During gameplay as a raven the player will be able to fly which will result in additional swooshing sound effect. The movement sounds will also be different when playing as a cat than when playing as a mouse, considering the former is heavier than the latter.
Music may be used mainly during the memory animations or in important moments of the story. The appearance of music combined with a cutscene might signify that the player currently sees the outcome of choices they had taken.
Designing sound for this project might prove to be challenging, however, for now I used sounds I have found on Freesound to convey my idea.
Ambience Audio
Examples of ambience audio which will appear whenever the player is outside (example location: playground).

UI Sound Effects
An example UI sound effect, when the player accesses main menu or presses the UI buttons. I want the sound effect to have a modern feel to it.
