Semester 2 Overview
ARTD2114 – Games Development: Daydream
Our team members were Erick, Harry, Jermy, Kamilar, and me. Within the team, my role was Technical Designer / Gameplay Interaction Designer. I focused on implementing the functional gameplay systems that made the prototype playable, including player movement, jumping, interaction, pickup and drop, item feedback, inventory UI prompts, door unlocking, puzzle interaction, and climbing mechanics.
Daydream 2 is a Semester 2 team vertical slice project developed for ARTD2114 – Games Development. The project was created as a playable Unreal Engine 5 prototype, focusing on movement-based level progression, item collection, door unlocking, and a final puzzle sequence.
The core gameplay asks the player to move through the level using jumping and traversal challenges, collect required items, unlock doors, and progress toward a final 4×4 puzzle. The vertical slice was designed to test how movement, interaction, item-based progression, and puzzle-solving could work together as a short playable experience.
