Week 1

Logline Workshop

A log line is a brief summary that explains the main concept. It is usually only one sentence which includes an adjective, the genre and the setting.

In groups we each came up with an adjective beginning with the first letter of our names. After this we were given a list with each birth month on it with different genres. Mine was survival horror or stealth. For the final part we used our birth date for the setting. My setting was medieval Europe.

Out of mine, Izzy’s and Maja’s log line we chose Izzy’s to come up with a game concept.

Metaphor Workshop

On the board in front of us we were given a list of metaphors to help us think of a game concept. Our group chose “Be under the weather”. We took this metaphor quite literally and came up with the idea where you have to stay under rain clouds. You navigate your way through levels either taking one step or two. To keep your health bar high you would have to think ahead.

How was this workshop helpful?

This workshop helped me use a different method of thinking. After this workshop finished I began to think how I could use my fears metaphorically in relation to anxiety.
