I can’t believe it’s already the end of the semester! throughout this project I have learnt a variety of new skills from learning how to create mechanic game loops to learning how to create concept art on Procreate. Although this project was difficult, I enjoyed having a sense of freedom and creating a game based on something I have to personally deal with in day-to-day life. I had a lot going on this semester, so managing to push myself through it all is an amazing feeling and I’m proud of what I have achieved.
This chosen topic based around anxiety and grief is a touchy subject so I had to make sure it was done right, using primary and secondary research to influence me.
During this week I finalised some components of my work, ready for the event. I took this time to create a video prototype as well as a start screen for my game Below the Break.
My prototype and the process can be found here: Prototyping
My Start screen/logo design can be found here!- Start screen/logo design
Feedback:
I showed three of my friends who were kind enough to fill out my forms, for my primary research, to see what they thought.
I showed them through my GDD, starting by covering the essential experience and game over view. All three of them were very impressed. One of them said “I would love to see this game be developed. I love the art-style and it sounds like something I would play”.
This feedback made me feel happy about the work I had produced and made me feel like I had achieved exactly what I wanted to.
Event update:
Unfortunately the event was cancelled, however this gave me more time to finalise the rest of my work over the next two weeks!
