The first week of Professional Contexts was introductory. We got to know more about this module and what we need to except from it. This year, I would like to build more connections with industry professionals and figure out with path fits me best. I would also like to develop my portfolio and CV to a presentable condition and get more feedback from the speakers on those things, too.

I found the guidance for our module assignment quite useful as I often struggle without a coherent structure that I need to follow. The questions are definitely going to help me with keeping the reflections clear.
What I struggled with last year, was the lack of personal research on the topic and my own thoughts about the guest lectures. Now I know that these things are what I need to focus on the most.
We were also given a list of guest speakers who will appear in the future, so we can research them beforehand and prepare question we would like to ask after the lectures.
Week 2 speaker is going to be Olivia Gregory: Freelance Concept & Visual Artist
I personally am looking forward to meeting Olivia as concept art is something I am interested in more than anything else. I would like to hear about her journey of becoming a Concept Artist, as well as her impression of the industry.
I took a look at Olivia’s website and noted some things:
- There should be more visual content that text – your work and process are more important than your personal thoughts.
- Separating work and putting it under the names of projects/general categories will make it easier to navigate your portfolio
Questions I would like to ask:
- Do you have any advice on where to find inspiration?
- Have you ever dealt with burning out? If so, what are your tips on how to deal with it?
