Disadvantages:
- The button used to skip to the next line of dialogue in player conversations needs to be made slightly larger. it’s not very noticeable.
- Add a ‘Guide’ option to the start screen to inform players of the key bindings required during gameplay.
- The safe house isn’t very conspicuous, perhaps a sign could be added.
- Some players have pointed out that there is currently no background music in the game, which detracts from the immersive experience, and have suggested that I add some.
- As NPCs are 2D characters, some players have commented that it is difficult for them to spot players when approaching, which increases the game’s difficulty
- There is a staircase in the scene that looks out of place, and the player would like it removed.
- Pick-up system is not working.
Advantages:
- Players have said they really like the style of our game; it’s quite unique (3D environments combined with 2D NPCs).
- Some players have said that the jigsaw puzzle mini-game in the safe house is great fun. What’s more, the illustrations are very cute, which helps to alleviate any feelings of fear
Summary:
Most of the art assets are already in place for this final playtest; only the art assets for the character rooms have yet to be imported, but this will not affect the game as a whole. As Yushan mentioned during the last playtest, once the art assets have been imported, players will no longer feel disoriented within the scenes.
Yushan stepped in during the build process, which resulted in a key mechanic failing to work in the final game. However, Yushan quickly identified the issue and fixed the Blueprint.
Apart from this issue, most of the players’ suggestions relate to minor details. Following testing, the core gameplay flow has been found to be sound. However, certain details need to be added and optimised to enhance the players’ gaming experience.
