Week 9 Group Communication

Yushan and Derry:

Yushan and Derry discussed the arrangements for the in-game scene models. As the lecturer had announced in class that 1 May would be the final official game test, Yushan and Derry agreed that all models needed to be completed by 1 May. They also agreed that the modelling for most of the supermarket could be finished by the end of Week 9.

As time was tight, Yushan discussed with Derry the use of the simplest materials to save time, ensuring first and foremost that the project could be completed within the specified timeframe.

Yushan has suggested that he and Derry go to the school next Tuesday to use the studio time to finalise the scene layout.

Lee and Yushan:

Lee showed Yushan his newly designed NPC character and walking animation. He asked Yushan if he was satisfied and whether there was anything else he needed. As the game is in 3D, but Lee can only create 2D animations, Yushan found it rather difficult to import 2D NPCs into a 3D game. Yushan told Lee that he planned to try creating them this weekend.

Following a discussion between Lee and Leo, it was decided that Lee would be responsible for writing the NPC dialogue. Yushan discussed with Lee that five lines of NPC dialogue were required initially for testing purposes.

As Yushan doesn’t know how the trial went at the weekend, he hopes to discuss the NPC matter in person with Lee at school next Monday.

Yushan suggested that Lee finish the NPC dialogue first, as Yushan was still unsure whether it would be possible to integrate 2D animations into the 3D game. Yushan also outlined the worst-case scenario; Lee accepted this, and Yushan assured him that he would do his best to see it through.

Yushan and Leo:

Next Monday, the teacher needs a logo and poster for our game to promote the beta test. As Derry needs to finish modelling the scenes, Lee needs to finish the character animations, and Yushan needs to finalise the game mechanics, Leo has already completed his tasks. Yushan therefore asked Leo if he could take on the task of creating the group’s poster, and Leo agreed to do so.

Yushan asked me to draw a half-length portrait similar to a ID photo as the character illustration for our game. I agreed. Since we didn’t communicate via Slack but via WeChat, there is no English version.
