Monday and Thursday:
This week, I mainly discussed the project workflow for the next two weeks with Derry. As there is an important test next Friday, our plan is to finish modelling the core supermarket elements by the end of this weekend, including (freezers, shelves, 10 items, self-checkout machines and vegetable display cabinets). I told Derry that, given the tight deadline, we should use the simplest textures possible to save time. We also plan to work together next Tuesday to complete the scene layout.

Measures to facilitate project progress:
On Monday, I discussed the project’s progress with Vanissa. As one team member has been unable to complete their tasks on time, the project has come to a standstill. Vanissa suggested that I increase communication with the team member, as more frequent communication might help move the project forward.
After giving it some thought, I increased the frequency of my communication with my team members. To ensure they received messages as soon as possible, I used Slack direct messages to communicate with them. I would let them know exactly which assets I needed by a specific time. I assigned them specific times and tasks rather than leaving it up to them to decide, which helped to improve focus and efficiency. I also chose to meet up with them again at the university on Tuesdays and Thursdays to increase the frequency of our face-to-face communication.
My work progress:
Mini Game System:
The mini-game is a key component of our game. It is a jigsaw puzzle that interacts with other systems. Players first trigger the UI by touching the washbasin; they then click a button to launch the mini-game. Players can use the mouse to rotate the puzzle pieces. Once the puzzle is completed, the mini-game closes automatically and the player’s tension level decreases.

NPC Dialogue:
When players encounter an NPC, different dialogue sequences are triggered, these conversations are designed to make the player feel tense. At the same time, the dialogue is linked to the player’s tension level. Upon encountering an NPC, dialogue is initiated and the player’s tension level increases.

Typewriter display:
When player dialogue appears on the UI, it is displayed with a typewriter effect. Each letter appears in the dialogue box one at a time, with a 0.03-second interval between them.
