My definition of my character’s art style is simple, cute, warm colours and fluffy. A character’s style can make the player feel happy and cosy.
The first thing that comes to mind is one of my favourite party games, animals party, where all the characters have a fluffy texture and the overall shape of the characters is round, giving them a very soft and cuddly feel.
Secondly I found a lot of characters online that use animals as prototypes, and each designer has their own character. I choose my favourite style to learn. The designs are simple, cute and colourful.
The first three pictures are from animals party and the last three pictures are character designs I found online.
1.Fox:
Fox Appearance：Foxes have fluffy tails, fluffy faces and pointy ears. Red foxes have bright orange-red fur.(Bbcearth.com. ,2024).
Fox Features：Foxes are social animals and they are very social. Very wary of their external environment(Bbcearth.com. ,2024).
Fox Talent：During market transactions, there is one mandatory haggling opportunity each day, allowing one to force the other party to reduce their offer by 10%. For example: if the other party offers ten tomatoes in exchange for a portion of meat, the fox may force them to lower the price to nine tomatoes for a portion of meat.
How prototype animal traits relate to character talent：
In real life foxes are smart and good at interacting with their peers, and exchanging resources in the game’s market requires a lot of interaction with other characters. Combined with reality, this character is set to be very good at trading with others in the bazaar, and in this part of the game the character is augmented.
2.Dog
Dog Appearance：There are nearly 400 modern domestic dog breeds, each with unique characteristics(Bbcearth.com. ,2024). This image is of my dog, and I borrowed the image of my dog for my character design.
Dog Features：Canines have excellent night vision and a superb sense of smell. Dogs are considered to be loyal and energetic(Bbcearth.com. ,2024).
Dog Talent：When players select the dog character within the community, it reduces the likelihood of theft occurring within the community.
How prototype animal traits relate to character talent：
Because of the dog’s strong sense of sight and smell, it is easy to detect small movements, and the dog is a very loyal animal, based on these characteristics, this character in the game is very suitable for the security of the community.
3.Penguin
Penguin Appearance：Penguin feathers are broad, stiff and short enough to be dense. The black and white colour scheme of most Antarctic penguins.
Penguin Features：Penguins have broad, stiff and short feathers that are dense enough to prevent icy water from touching their skin as they dive for food. Penguins spend nearly 75 per cent of their time in the water, and penguins have a thick layer of fat to keep them warm underwater(Informer, W. ,2022).
Penguin Talent：Penguins hold an advantage in glacial terrain, as the riverbanks are frozen over, making them one of the few creatures capable of fishing in such environments.
How prototype animal traits relate to character talent：
Because most penguins live in Antarctica, they have an extreme ability to keep warm and can adapt to the temperature of icy water, based on this characteristic so the character is set to be able to go underwater fishing in cold areas.
4.Cat
Cat Appearance：There are many different breeds of cats, each with their own coat colour and body features. But every cat makes for a cute cat. This picture is of my family’s cat and the prototype for my character reference.
Cat Features：Cats are agile creatures that can be stealthy and move quickly. Cats have remarkable also functional and sensitive whiskers that allow them to quickly sense their surroundings and stay alert(j66mr , 2023).
Cat Talent：Cats achieve a higher success rate when stealing while visiting other neighbourhoods.
How prototype animal traits relate to character talent：
Because cats are flexible and sensitive to their surroundings, their activities are not easily detected by others. Therefore, this character is very suitable for the setting of ‘stealing’ resources from other communities.
5.Rabbit
Rabbit Appearance：Most rabbits have long ears, short, bushy tails, strong hind legs, and three-petalled mouths(Wildlife Informer ,2022).
Rabbit Features：Rabbits are herbivores and they eat a lot of fibre. Most rabbits dig holes for their nests and they live underground(Smith, A.T. ,2019).
Rabbit Talent：Rabbits excel at digging burrows, thus gaining an advantage in mini-games involving the harvesting of subterranean crops (where the game difficulty is reduced).
How prototype animal traits relate to character talent：
Rabbits are good at digging holes in the ground, they can be flexible underground and they like to eat vegetables. So this character is set to have an ability bonus when going underground to gather plants.
